We can make all the necessary arrangements or provide you with a list of reputable suppliers. Appliances People sometimes forget that most machines or mechanical equipment such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, grandfather clocks, etc. need to be prepared for transportation or storage to protect them from internal damage. This servicing should be done by licensed professionals. Do not plug in or use appliances or televisions for at least twelve hours after delivery when moving in the winter. Refrigerators should be cleaned and dried before the move especially when going into storage. We suggest you put a handful of baking soda into a sock and place it inside to keep the interior smelling fresh. Waterbeds Waterbeds should be properly drained and rolled or folded. For storage or long distance moving, we can make arrangements for you. if you decide to do it yourself, contact a waterbed store for detailed instructions. Computers and Printers Your personal computer and printer also require special attention. Wires attached to moveable hardware such as a modem or mouse must be disconnected. Your PC's harddrive must be "parked". Refer to your owner's manual or contact a professional. Paper holders and feeders must be detached. Monitors and hardware should be wrapped similar to other home electronics. Be sure that disks are never packed near magnets (such as those on your stereo speaker).Make sure you have backed up all your files. Electronic Components The preferred way to move electronic components is in their original cartons with the original styrofoam packing material. if you do not have the cartons, we can handle everything in your entertainment centre. The components (e.g. receiver, CD player, etc.) will be wrapped separately in paper or padded with bubble wrap. These components will be carefully packed in a sturdy carton and marked "fragile".
